Project: Meta

Successful pokemon communities have a section dedicated to competitive battling. The BEST communities have their own metagames. I've worked on projects like this on some other forums. Some worked out, some didn't. Seeing as this one is fairly recent, I figured it'd be best to start it now before it hits it 'peak' of membership activity.

This will be a massive undertaking, but any of you would like to help, post below.

The project itself needs to be broken down into a few groups.

- Group 1: Tier System and Tier Rulings.

Easy, this group is responsible for setting up the different tiers for battling. The system needs to be adaptable to possible power creeps with each generation, able to accommodate the metagame so that each Pokemon can be viable in it's respective tier, and setting up restrictions on items or ability combinations to prevent Centralization. Other rules, such as a tier of Mono-Gen or Monotype Metas, must also be taken into account.

-Group 2: Competitive Analysis

This group will be responsible for analyzing each and every last Pokemon, in order to provide information for battlers when they wish to use said Pokemon on a team. Abilities, Moves, and Items all have to be taken into account and presented to show the best possible ways to use said Pokemon in a battle. This will obviously have to be the largest group, as they're responsible for analyzing more than 670 Pokémon, and more that are being released in October.

-Group 2-1: Kanto Pokemon Analysis

-Group 2-2: Johto Pokemon Analysis

-Group 2-3: Hoenn Pokemon Analysis

-Group 2-4: Sinnoh Pokemon Analysis

-Group 2-5: Unova Pokemon Analysis

-Group 3: Informants.
This group is basically a small one that notifies us of any new releases (Such as Shadow Tag for the Litwick Line, or an Event Pokemon with special moves [Weather Ball Raikou for example] ).

It's a lot of work, but we can pull this off with enough active members and a little elbow grease. Just post below if you want to help out. As for me, I'll start Analyzing.

A metagame is when is people play to win, therefore rank Characters and Items according to what helps them win. In most cases, you can never use the ones you like because they're either outclassed or overpowered. So, I'd actually like to make a Metagame centered on our personal favorites to make them competitively viable, as opposed to Smogon, who tiers Pokemon based on usage, or another site I used to go to that ranked them based on appearance.

Just pay attention to Pokemon Global Link for when they announce a new Pokemon being released in the Dream World. For events such as Crown Beast Raikou, you can look it up on Serebii or other Pokemon sites. You really only need to let us know about any events and the moves the Pokemon has.

lol, We're this early in the project and we already have someone taking initiative.

I like that. I like that very much.

Okay, just make sure that any information regarding new Pokemon (Like Sylveon's typing) or events (Especially any Japanese events. They get awesome Pokemon) is gathered. One bit of info can completely re-write a Pokemon's entire analysis.

I would like to analyze the Sinnoh region's Pokemon. If I could head this one up I'll be happy and I'll serve and lead best I can as needed.

I'm rather happy with how we already have people taking initiative.

This is just to get people involved in the project. I'll start organizing the threads for Group 2-1 through 2-5 to post in once we have someone heading each one and some more participants. DarkAssassin, because you're heading, You're responsible for making sure there is an analysis for every Pokemon, and each form.

For example, Shaymin and Sky Forme Shaymin are treated as separate Pokemon and need their own analysis on how well they'll perform.

Understood, I'll get to work right away. Sinnoh is very diverse and quite large; I like a challenge.

Yeah, A competitive Pokemon Forum would keep things neater.
